21 Pics of What Life in Greenland Looks Like Before We Invade

Currently, Greenland is a Danish independent territory, and has been connected to Denmark at varying degrees for hundreds of years. But that may soon change, with growing enthusiasm for total annexation by the United States through methods yet unknown.

Why might America's next president want the arctic island so badly? It's hard to rule out Mercator projection, the phenomenon that makes Greenland look a lot bigger on a flat map than it really is.

Greenland's population of under 57,000 people is concentrated in just a few small cities, the largest being Nuuk, its capital, with most citizens of native Inuit decent. But although frigid weather makes life hard, Greenland's pristine landscape and northern lights clarity make it one of the most breathtaking places on Earth.

So with the threat of stretch malls and Bass Pro Shops imminent, we thought it pertinent to throw together a collection of photos showcasing what life in Greenland looks like. (Before we invade, of course.)
